The 2024 nail trends you’ll be seeing everywhere

This decade commemorates a century of nail painting, originating with the production of nail lacquers in the 1920s. Since then, a diverse range of trends has emerged. Fast forward to 2024: drawing inspiration from the creative spirit of the 90s, the glamour of the 2000s, and the resurgence of soft feminine styles, this year's nail trends are poised to celebrate self-expression. Envision an array of options, including light and airy shades, delightful pop-art colours, chrome and metallic finishes, and modernized French manicures. Painted nail art with attached jewels remains a popular choice, and we're fully embracing it.

In the past couple of years, the prevailing mood has been "you-do-you," and this sentiment continues into 2024. Below, we've highlighted our favorite projected trends for the year.

The squoval shape returns

A flattering nail shape on all hands, expect to see more of this hybrid between square and oval this year. Nails are also being filed shorter—a dream for fans of short, more natural nails.

Bows, pearls and jewels

Bows are here to stay—even if for a little while. In the realm of beauty, we've witnessed an abundance of powdery makeup looks, rosy pink cheeks, face gems and hair bows. However, the simplest approach to embrace the super-sweet trend is by opting for a set of coquette nails, swiftly emerging as a leading summer nail trend.

French tips with a twist

After a year of Barbie pinks, people may need a breather, and all the takes on French manicures are just the remedy. There’s something timelessly chic about a nude or pink base coat, with chrome or coloured tips, minimal graphic lines and tiny decorative nail art all being creatively added to take the effect just north of subtle.

Mixed metals

Metallics will continue to dominate in 2024, and we’re seeing shades like copper and gunmetal on the rise. This contemporary and versatile style often combines different metals, such as gold, silver, bronze, or chrome, either in geometric patterns, colour-blocking, or as intricate accents.

Colour of the year

In 2024, the Pantone colour of the year is peach fuzz – a soft and inviting pinkish-orange hue. While you may be considering how to integrate it into your spring decor or wardrobe, Pantone's recent selection also makes it an ideal choice for your manicures.

Colour play

Use your nails like a canvas – and use the full palette of colours. Cute, creamsicle pastel hues, and bold shades too. Nothing is off the menu and it truly is about finding your self-expression as far as beauty is concerned. Maximal or minimal, there is something for everyone. Our picks for colours? Baby blues, all the shades of brown, sunset pinks and oranges… you get the drift.
