Unlocking the perfect red lips: secrets to a bold matte finish

Red lipstick has always been one of the quintessential beauty products that never go out of style. It embodies a person's confidence, good taste, and classy look that one always wants to possess. Mostly, red matte lipstick is nowadays the go-to cosmetic for countless women as it delivers a really strong, bold hue that doesn't need a lot of layers and is perfect for fashion lovers. There is no way that such an item can fail to match and improve any face and makeup combination. It's an awesome base for the most creative makeup artist and just a simple red matte lipstick if you go with the basic look, you are after.

Yet, if you want to get a perfect red matte look with the lipstick, you will need to know the correct method and do some preparatory work. It only takes a handful of small actions from you to pick the perfect red matte shade, allow for flawless application, etc. At Tira, we are convinced that proper makeup application stems from proper instructions and real products, which in turn makes it super easy for you to discover, try out and confidently express yourself through the top red matte lipstick choices that India has to offer.

How to apply red matte lipstick?

Step 1: Prep your lips thoroughly?

Begin by gently exfoliating your lips to remove dry skin and flakes. Red matte liquid lipsticks tend to magnify the texture of your lips, making any irregularities more noticeable. Then, you can apply a light, non-greasy lip balm to keep lips soft and smooth.

Step 2: Apply a lip primer or concealer

Prepping your lips with a primer or liner creates a smooth base and helps your lipstick last significantly longer. If you don't have either on hand, simply pat a thin layer of concealer over your entire lip area instead. This easy makeup hack grips the colour and prevents smudging or bleeding, keeping your lipstick vibrant all day.

Step 3: Outline your lips with a lip liner

Select a lip liner that resembles your matte red lipstick as closely as possible. Sketch your lips so that the lipstick is only contained within your lip line. This tip is extremely helpful for dramatic makeups like matte metallic red lipstick or red glitter matte lipstick.

Step 4: Apply lipstick in thin layers

If using bullet or liquid type red matte lipstick, apply it on multiple thin, even coats. You can begin from lips' centre and work your way outward. Layering is important because thin layers result in comfortable feel, long lasting time, and a great matte finish.

Step 5: Blot and reapply for longevity

Gently press your lips with a soft cotton sheet after putting on the first layer. This way, you help yourself eliminate the layer of surplus product and the colour is preserved at the same time. Then put on a second layer to make the shade more vivid, which is most of all important if you are seeking to get the most durable matte red lipstick.

Step 6: Perfect the edges and set the look

Use a small brush with concealer to clean up the edges for a polished look. To make your lipstick last even longer, lightly dust translucent powder through a tissue paper over your lips to set the colour. This tip is very effective if you want to get red matte lipstick waterproof effects and at the same time be comfortable.

Benefits of using red matte lipstick

• Bold and timeless appeal

Red matte lipstick is a classic beauty staple that is timeless. It can very easily transition from sheer matte red lipstick for a daytime look to a bold intense matte finish red lipstick for the night.

• Long-lasting wear

Long-lasting matte red lipstick is loaded with a lot of good qualities, and extended wear is the chief one. Such lipstick products are ideal for days, events, and parties when you desire no touch-ups.

• Minimal transfer

Matte formulations generally do not transfer as much as glossy ones. A lot of matte red lipstick waterproof varieties remain on the lips even after having food and drinks, thus, making them a practical and smart choice.

• Wide variety of shades and finishes

Whether creamy or metallic, a matte red lipstick line is rich in colour variations, making each shade complementary to different skin tones and personal styles.

• Professional and polished look

Red matte lipstick is an easy and effective way to instantly elevate your makeup. It looks just as great with a bare face as it does with a full glam look, therefore eliminating the need for multiple lip colours in your makeup bag.

• Photograph-friendly finish

Matte lipsticks are very effective in cutting off the shine and thus look excellent in photographs. That is why, they have become the most loved makeup products for weddings, parties, and festive occasions in India.
