The festive season brings with it immense opportunity to play dress up! Especially pooja functions, the drawn-out hours or ceremonial rituals followed by sharing a meal with your loved ones calls for bringing your A game with the glam as well. Strike a balance if carefully placed details and small details of a fun lip of a coloured liner to elevate your look; for the rest, below is an easy routine to put together your festive look together.
1. The prep club
Pooja functions can be long, hot and filled with activity. And to keep up with the heat and excitement of it all, you’ll need to prep your skin, so the makeup doesn’t move on your face. This begins with good skincare that includes cleansing, toning, moisturising and a sunscreen, even if you’re indoors. Opt for lightweight formulas that won’t make your skin greasy and make the makeup sitting on it look muddy. Opt for a long wear, silicone-based primer before you do your base and make it last longer.

2.Base essentials
Easy does it for the base makeup. We’re talking sheer layers that are dewy yet offer good amount of coverage to make your complexion look even toned. After primer, go in with a hydrating foundation to keep any dryness at bay. Follow this up with a liquid concealer, only focusing on under the eyes to avoid over-caking up the base and other areas of concern. Warm up the product in your palm and apply with fingers to get that “melts into the skin” finish.

3.Eyes & face
A pooja function is not the time for cut-crease shadows that can get accidentally ruined while rubbing your eyes during the aarti! Keep it matte with a nude brown or taupe covering the entire lid. Line with a thick kohl close to the waterline and add fluttery volume to the lashes. Once your eye is on, it’s time to put some colour back into your complexion. Start with lightly dusting on bronzer to add depth to your features; place it on your forehead, hollows of the cheek and under the jawline. Move to a lightly pigmented cheek tint to flush out the apples of your cheeks. Colour the lips with a matte formulation so that it doesn’t smudge or bleed while gorging on mithai!
The highlighter is optional but if you do plan on using it, pick up some shimmery dusting powder on a blending brush and apply it on the highpoints of your face. Sweep it on above the cupid’s bow to let that pout pop too. Set everything with a finishing spray or setting powder; keep a mist handy in your purse to freshen up the look through the day.
